It’s Handled.

It’s 4am, and I am scared.  I woke up because I heard something…

First it was my alarm, but that fiasco is over.  Now I’m back in the bed, and I hear something else coming from the kitchen, it sounds like the wood floors, a creak here, and a creak there.  I am literally laying there petrified and debating…to get out of the bed or not.

My mind is in the indy 500 at this point: They heard my alarm, they must know someone got up, they may think I fell back asleep, why isn’t Douglass barking, well he doesn’t normally bark, but he’d bark if someone was breaking in, should I wake up Derrick, can I go to the bathroom, what if I go to the bathroom and they bust in here and hurt Derrick, should I just go see what or who is in there, what if it’s nothing, what if it’s a spirit, a ghost, or an angel, fear not is what they said, but I’m feeling some fear, I checked the doors before bed last night…it’s 4:10am.

I’m still in the bed, and I’m laying there praying…and realize whether someone is in there, be it person or spirit or ghost, I’ll have to confront it.  And then, I figured out what was making the noise.  It was the heat kicking on and off, the blade moving open to close every few minutes or so.  I get up, and clear as day, I hear God, “you almost let fear keep you in the bed.”

Now why was this significant?  I have goals, and plans were made to reach those goals, and plans only work, if I work.  My plans that day, started at 4:00am, not 4:15am. (Let’s not discuss the fact, that 15 minutes should not have been making or breaking the day…moving along).

“Fear itself is not sin, but it can lead to sin.” – Mark Batterson (Fearless)

How many times has fear of something, that could be nothing, kept you from something.  Our minds have wild imaginations, maybe we shouldn’t trust them so willingly.

And even if it is something, what do you do?  Stay in the bed forever (not an option), wait it out, hope it goes away, and if there’s nothing to go away, you’ll be waiting a long time my friend.  If it’s something, remember Who’s image you’re made in.  And then, you and God handle and overcome it.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:5 NKJV

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 11:3 NKJV

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2 NLT
